Had some doubts about how well it would turn out, but I saw it today and it seems, apart from some minor points, a very very good game.
It plays, and feels, like fallout. Incredible achievement by bethesda.

If u just follow the questline the game is completed in 7-12hours, but if u r like me (explorer) and want to do most quests see all places get most weapons ur looking at atleast 50hours+ of gametime.. heck im just on 5th main quest on F3...
And its not really an FPS game either, coz u can choose to play it in 3rd person view.. Id say Fallout3 is an RPG with FPS..

Game of the Year, I think. I don't think Fallout 3 could have been made any better.
There are some problems with it, you shouldn't be able to heal so easily for one, and the medical skill should actually do something. Staying alive should be harder in the long term.
I've been playing it almost every waking hour since it arrived and I only recently reached the VR quest in Vault 112. It's the first game for a long time in which I know that as soon as I finish the main quest I'll want to start again with a new character. One with guns this time.
Played Fallout 1 and 2 from start to end many many times, looks like Fallout 3 will live just as long.

Well yes, you are able to finish the main quest line with a chineese assault rifle without problems. Actually that was a bit sad. Had nothing to use missiles and mini-nukes... since super-mutants going down in 3 shots. When you start 112 vault is no wai back mostly and you need to finish the game.
Did not play much in 3rd person, because the engine sucks.
And yes I was expecting to be at least max level and stuff to start end quest line. I guess they finished the game in a hurry sincerly.

Na, Fallout was always a lot harder off the main quest than on.
That way, ppl can casually play to the end of the core plot, while the hardcore crowd can go wandering in every horrifically irradiated hole in the game.
Tried it on higher difficulties? Apparently the xp increases.
I found at least one use for mininukes... There's a Super Mutant Behemoth caged in a raider camp somewhere. Took TWO shots from the Fat Man to kill it. Thing was silly tough.
I'm level 17 now, just left the Brotherhood Citadel. I don't know if there is a level cap, never used to be. My best F2 character got to 44 iirc.
